The word change and the feeling and idea of its acceptance is appearing all around us these days. This is a good thing. There have been a lot of changes in the world since we started playing music together, but the changes today feel bigger than ever before and we’re feeling them immensely. We’re learning together and slowly finding a foothold in this tumultuous time. In the sense of being ourselves it is important for us to keep creating and sharing with you out there. It is also important for us to contribute to positive changes around us. People are changing and as we do, so does our environment, sending us on a feedback loop that needs all we have to reverse course and move in a positive direction. So today we’re sharing a couple of early shows and donating the funds to the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, and the Climate Justice Alliance - two groups working to make that happen for the communities most impacted by environmental destruction and climate change. And speaking of feedback loops…these shows have a lot of them. Brace yourselves. May 9, 2001 at Free 103.9 FM in Brooklyn, NY. Super short set aired over the radio (we think) on a bill with Black Dice, Animals, and !!!. And then a slightly longer one from sometime in April, 2002 at the Hideout in Chicago, IL. Currituck Co. played as well.
Always willing to support Dave Portner and the other members of Animal Collective. True, honest, meaningful music in a time when it is needed most. Adam Hagin
